Dear Papa,
Wishing you were here so I could give you a kiss, talk with you and hear your voice again. I am so very grateful for having had you for my father. Of all the gifts with which I have been blessed in my life, you are one of the greatest. I love you, Papa. I miss you, Papa. I will never forget you, Papa.
My love to you,
~ Gerrie

Dr Paino,
A very wise man once said that it is not the measure of man in how he lives his life, but by how others have remembered him when he lives no more. If that is true, and I believe it is, than your life, sir, has been very well measured indeed. I know you only through the adoration for you, in your children's eyes. I know you only by the sound of the undying love in their voices when they look each other in the eyes and whisper "Papa". I know you only by the fact that your son is such a noble man, and your daughter a gentle and compassionate soul, and they proudly boost that they got it from you! I am blessed sir, to know them and so therefore I am blessed to know you as well. Peaceful eternity Dr. Paino.
Tristan

My Dear Papa, You departed this life 16 years ago today. The passing of the years has not diminished my love for you. My memories of you are something I will cherish in my heart for eternity. God could not have blessed me with a father more loving, kind or wise. May each day of Forever bring you new blessings, new experiences, new joys and new things to learn. You deserve nothing less than perfect happiness!
Thank you for all you gave me and all you taught me.
I Love you, Papa...now and forever...
~ Gerrie

Happy Birthday, Papa!
On your birthday, I simply wanted to do something "concrete" to remember you and to remind the living of your wonderful life and all you contributed to this world.
I imagine you strolling the lanes of the Bright World, in perfect health and peace...learning, as you always loved to while here...and experiencing joy beyond measure.
I love you...now and always.

I have called you Papa by the grace of your wonderful children who've helped me to know you. I love your smile, your essence, the kindness of your soul that shines through your eyes. I feel I do know you, through my dear friends--your children--Frank and Gerrie. Rest in peace, and thank you for everything you did as a talented physician, and a kind and generous human being during your time on this earthplane. I know your soul is soaring with the Angels....

"It was always dear to me, this solitary hill, and this hedge which shuts off the gaze from so large a part of the uttermost horizon. But sitting and looking out, in thought I fashion for myself endless spaces beyond; more-than-human silences, and deepest quiet, where, for a while, the heart is not alarmed. And as I hear the wind rustling among these plants, I go on and compare this voice to that infinite silence. And I recall the eternal, and the dead seasons, and the present, living one and her sound. So in this immensity my thoughts drown, and shipwreck is sweet to me in this sea." (Giacomo Leopardi)
Recently, I came across this, one of your favourite poems, Papa. How sweet and dear is the memory of you, loving these words! What world did they describe for you? Is this the place your Spirit soars in now? How gently the Universe must hold you to Her Heart!!!
We do not forget you, Dear Papa!!
Love,
--Gerrie

Frankie and Gerrie, your father sounds like he was a wonderful man, doctor and parent. You were blessed indeed to have him as your father. And clearly Ohio is better off due to his work. -- Best, Tony

Because I believe love transcends this world, I feel sure that you know, Dr. Paino, how much Frankie and Gerrie love you...miss you with all their hearts. Be assured that their friends surround them with the loving embrace that you would were you still among us--mortal. Through you, from you--you have left us with two very special people who carry on your raison d'etre. We shall continue to care for them in your stead.
